Oats Idli

  • 1/2 Cup Oats
  • 1/2 Cup Suji
  • 1/2 Cup Whisked Yoghurt
  • 1 Cup Chopped Vegetables (Carrot, Bell Pepper, Peas) 1/2 Onion Fine Chopped
  • 1 Tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Tsp pepper/cayenne pepper Salt to taste
  • 1 Packet Eno Powder
  • 1 Spoon Lemon Juice


  • This is a replacement recipe for normal idli.


  1. Dry Roast the oats and Suji separately. Coarsely ground the oats and add them with the suji in a big mixing bowl. Whisk in the yoghurt.
  2. Add all vegetables and salt to it and form a batter.
  3. Heat a spoon of oil and temper the urad dal and mustard seeds in it. Add this tempering to the batter and set aside for 10 mins.
  4. Add Eno Power and lemon juice - Mix well and spoon it in to the greased idli moulds .
  5. Steam this for about 10 mins or until idli is cooked and serve with chutney.
